Most folks hike in boots — we took note and updated our favorite Hiker to boot sock height. Dirt, rock, branch and cold-thwarting protection, in a bundle that ranges from lightweight to midweight, mellow to flared out style. Yeah, we’ve got you covered.

Pairs With: Hiking boots, backpacking boots, heavy backpacks

  • Men's boot socks average 28 cm from heel to cuff - expect them to rise just to the top of an 20 cm work boot.
  • A performance fit means no slipping, no bunching, no blisters for peak hiking comfort.
  • Merino Wool is at home on the trail, naturally moving moisture to keep feet fresh and dry in all weather.
  • Our all-season weight, midweight socks thermoregulate to wrap feet in steady comfort when temperatures change.
  • The “still” in Still Made in Vermont, USA is personal. We knit all our socks at our VT-based Mills - we can't imagine it any other way.
  • Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life - if these aren’t the longest lasting socks you’ve ever owned, return them for another pair.

Unrivaled Durability

We make one thing, and we make it better than anyone else – ask any thru hiker and you will likely hear the same. In order to unconditionally guarantee a hiking sock for life, it must be durable. It must maintain its comfort, and it has to fit for miles upon miles on-trail. The socks that do return through warranty inform how we can improve. And we do. Our guarantee is a promise to you, but it’s a standard for us. We have yet to produce our best sock, but we get better with every step.

I ordered this pair after

"I ordered this pair after receiving my return authorization. I think DT,s warranty program is great! One was pretty long, which will make it a better fit when I wear my muck boots in the winter. I have many, many pairs of DT socks. I wear them all year. I think wool is great for the feet."

They are the bomb, right

"They are the bomb, right cushion and height up my leg, prefect for all of backpacking/hiking trips and they feel great, also easy on the eyes"

Reliable

"Perfect socks for hiking in the Sierra mountains. Warm, yet soft and breathable. Nice to know if I ever have an issue with them I can get a replacement at no additional cost."

I've had these socks for

"I've had these socks for a few weeks, and they're great. So far, I've worn them in weather from the 20s to the 60s and been comfortable in all those temperatures. They work well for walking, working outside, and hanging out around the house. I look forward to trying them out on longer walks and hikes this summer."

Tried and True…and disappearing.

"These are my go-to socks! i had to order some more because it seems like every time the boys come home to visit, and they do their laundry here, I seem to somehow end up with fewer Darn Tough socks…"

Even with blisters, I am smiling

"I got two pairs of these with a promotional voucher from Midwest Boots. As the tagline says, I am smiling, even with the blisters. I got those before I got the socks, which is a pity. Breaking in these new work boots didn't have to be as uncomfortable as it was up until now. I was sceptical about the thermal comfort of wool down here in Florida, though. Breaking in the work boots convinced me to try the wool route, despite my misgivings. I am happy to find out how wrong I was. They are ever so slightly warmer than the light cotton socks I am used to, I can say up front. Not enough to be a deal breaker for me, but may be worth knowing for others. That said, the tradeoffs are absolutely worthwhile in my opinion. First and foremost, blister protection. Both of my heels have been shredded for a month. As soon as I put the boots on over the wool I could tell a difference. It did take me a little fiddling around to get the toes settled comfortably, but as soon as I did, they have been perfect. The abrasion protection is good enough to continue wearing the boots, and let the blisters heal. Pretty impressive in my book. Second is dryness. Despite being a bit warmer, my feet are still more comfortable, because of the wicking effects of the wool. Which is probably part of why there is virtually no foot odor, even after 10 hours in the boots, in a warehouse with no A/C. Lastly is the cushion on these socks. Paired with a set of Saddle Sole insoles, my feet are just cheering! Comfort-wise, I'd say that my leather boots are close to a pair of sneakers with that setup. When you consider that there is also a lifetime warranty included, well its a Darn Tough deal to beat."

Great socks

"My husband loves these socks. He finds them very comfortable, and I even convinced him to get some socks with a design this time. He loves the bear! :) I have been wearing Darn Tough socks for a little over a year now, and I am very happy with them. I have bought for others as well."

Tammy (5/5)

Great design, warm and cushy

"love the grizzy design. wore the socks during some hiking in the snow. Temps were below freezingwas wearing insulated snow boots and my feet were almost too warm which rarely happens. super cushy on both the top and bottom and the socks did not slide down my calf"

Bill K. (5/5)

Wrongly Advertised

"Great socks but one of the pairs are not full cushion as advertised. Beware when buying their multi packs"

David H. (2/5)

Excellent socks

"I purchase these socks for my son-in-law. He wears work boots, all day and his feet sweat terribly. Your wool socks are the only ones that keep his feet comfortable. I've been buying him socks for several years and he hasn't needed to replace a pair. Although pricey, the socks are well worth the expense."
