The only hiking sock I use now, from glaciers to the living room

"I've converted all of my hiking socks to these. This summer I took them to the Alps, wore them at around 9,000 feet on the glaciers, and then walked down into town in them. They worked great the whole time. I relied on them in freezing weather at the top of the mountain and wore them casually in the valleys, so they've proven to be a real multi-purpose sock. I've put a couple of hundred miles on them already. They are knitted tight, so they feel a little snug when you first put them on. Once they're broken in, they're a great sock, and I wouldn't let that put you off. In the winter I also wear them around the house. The merino wool keeps your feet warm, almost better than slippers. You pay a little more for them, but they're absolutely worth it. Darn Tough backs them with a lifetime guarantee, and they've held up through everything I've asked of them. If you're looking for a durable merino hiking sock that works on the trail and off it, I'd recommend these."
