Great thick socks! If you

"Great thick socks! If you are in between sizes M and L and have rather slim feet I recommend going with the smaller size."

I enjoy the heavier socks,

"I enjoy the heavier socks, often labeled "Hiking. " I am a cyclist enthusiast, so I depend on a good, quality, warm sock for my winter rides. Darn Tough provides these features and more."

Terry C. (5/5)

These socks were a gift

"These socks were a gift for a friend. So, while I have not worn the socks myself, my friend was absolutely over the moon over them! On my end, there was a mistake with the order originally, however, the customer service was incredible, and that alone will keep me coming back. They responded quickly, kindly, and couldn't of made it any easier for us to get the right product. Thank you Darn Tough!!"

Jamie B. (5/5)

I haven't worn these yet

"I haven't worn these yet (saving for a hiking trip in the fall) but checked out the quality once they arrived. Beautiful colors. . . I bought the green vs. yellow and may have to buy the yellow as well. Very well sewn and thick, perfect for a walk up a mountain trail. They are a bit on the pricey side but with a lifetime guarantee, how can you lose?"

Deborah S. (5/5)

first time buyer with Darn

"first time buyer with Darn Tough, and I will definitely be returning. There was a mistake in the order at first, but I got the quickest customer service, nothing needed on my end to correct the mistake. These socks are fantastic! Super soft and comfy, but can tell that they will hold up to the cold temperatures while working on our farm. Love the colors too! The company was recommended to me by a friend who used to make/sell her own wool socks, and they have not disappointed!"

Love these socks!!

"As always I love my Darn Tough Socks! They’re so comfy and so very warm in this rainy and windy weather we’ve been having. I bought both pairs because I couldn’t decide which color I wanted and I’m glad I did! I will wear these socks a lot!!"

Patricia N. (5/5)

The best

"These are another pair of your socks that I have replaced all of my other socks with. Not only are they the best socks in every thinkable way They are the most attractive making them fun to wear. They are not just socks. They are an expression of who I am. Always seeking out quality and style in everything I buy. Guess a am a sock snob. These are the best"

Dorothy J. (5/5)

I'm sold on the midweight socks!

"I bought these socks as a treat for myself; I was going to be spending the weekend at a convention as the Artist Guest of Honor. My GOH duties meant that I would on my feet all day on hotel floors. I needed full cushioning but I wasn't sure if the heavyweight socks might be too much for indoor wear. I hadn't tried the midweight socks before; I'd wondered if they would stand up to the challenge. They sure did! They kept my feet toasty all day but still felt light - how did they do that? They looked adorable too; I loved the bright colors. I kept trying to find ways to wear my socks 'outside' my jeans, just to show them off. Now I have the big decision of which weight my next pair of socks should be!"

Hiking soft cushions

"These socks are the bomb for winter softness and comfort. I hike all day for my job in the PNW and wear Chaulk boots. These socks make me feel like I’m wearing soft slippers in the woods! My feet don’t sweat and are so happy at the end of a long day."

Julie T. (5/5)

Love them

"Thick and comfy!"

Q&A

If I’m in between sizes (sometimes a 7 and sometimes a 7.5 in shoes) should I order the small or medium size sock?
Hi Jess! Some customers who fall on the upper end of a size run do choose to size up due to the snug, performance fit of our socks. We know it can be tricky to shop for socks online so we got you covered with free return shipping for exchanges or returns for 90 days on all orders placed on our website, just in case!
What's the difference between the Women's Gatewood Boot Midweight Hiking Sock and the Women's hiker boot midweight full cushion hiking sock?
Hi Marie! The biggest difference between these two styles is the added design on the Gatewood. Both options will be similar otherwise, knit with midweight yarn, boot height, and feature Full Cushion added throughout the sock. The Hiker Boot style is also available in our Cushion profile, which will vary slightly.
