Great Socks

"I bought these and a few other Darn Tough socks to figure out what I like best. These socks have been great. There was another pair of full cushion midweight socks that became my favorite, but these have been great and when I use them hiking in NM heat, I think I will like these better than the other heavier pair."

Best socks ever

"Like every other darn tough socks I’ve bought they have not let me down. Comfortable to wear and keep my feet dry."

Robert H. (5/5)

Good for a day hike, but not for multi-day treks (

"I spend several days at a time in the mountains, usually hiking about 30 km a day. I tried these Coolmax socks on my last trip, but unfortunately, after just 3 days of use, I developed blisters. This is highly unusual for me, as I normally use the 100% Merino Wool socks from this brand and have never gotten a blister with those. Because of my experience, I am returning these Coolmax socks and going back to buying the full Merino wool versions. Overall, if you are only using these for a single day hike, they are probably great. However, if you are planning to use them for multi-day hikes with high mileage, I do not recommend them. Stick to the Merino wool!"

JORDITOMS (3/5)

Comfy as it gets

"Love the feel, I have had a lot of foot (hiking related) problems this past year and the high quality of these socks relieve a lot of irritation. The design is unique and my daughter likes it. They clean up in the wash like any other sock."

ROBERT S. (5/5)

These socks aren't right, but great return policy

"After one wash, these socks were very short and were loose in the leg portion. So with the sagging in the ankle/leg, they are just above an ankle sock height. As some of the other reviews mention, they are tight in the foot area (I have narrow feet and so they go on tight, but are ok--not sure what someone with wide feet would do). I am not sure why these socks get good reviews, they are clearly not right being simultaneously too narrow in the foot, saggy in the leg, and too short. These were my first Darn Tough socks and so I gave them a second chance with the purchase of the Darn Tough Vermont Men's Light Hiker Boot Cushion Hike Socks and those are great! Totally normal fit, no sagging (I may have overcompensated with hiker height, though it's really only a little higher than a usual crew sock). Very much appreciate the great return policy!"

My Go-To Socks

"These continue to be my go-to socks for hiking, but also for the gym and casual wear. They are durable, comfortable and always odor free. I've tried other brands, but they just don't measure up to the quality of my Coolmax Hikers. These are excellent socks."

William W. (5/5)

Socks are very soft and

"Socks are very soft and somewhat comfortable, they seem to be a bit small overall in size. I believe they are for shoe size 10 to 12, I'm 11 and they feel tight. Maybe they will expand a little with use."

David F. (3/5)

Sock Review

"Ordered a mens large which is for shoe size 10-12 I'm an 11 and these socks were beyond tight and completely unwearable"

Michael R. (1/5)

Best darn socks ever.

"These socks are very comfortable. I’ve had no problems with blisters even after over 10 miles on steep uneven ground."

Michael S. (5/5)

Q&A

Which socks are best for constant “4-6 days”of rain on trail ? I’ve heard two pair of thin nylon socks. What is your opinion. There’s no right answer just FYI.
Hi Ron! We've reached out to you directly via email to provide some recommendations!
My husband is a power journeyman Lineman currently in southern California with extreme heat. He often works 16hr days in the direct sun and heat. I am looking for a sock with main purpose of keeping feet dry, slipping and staying up while working. In addition to something to prevent the sweating and smell! Would this be an appropriate sock or is there a better one to try?
Hi Jennifer! While our Coolmax Hiker Micro Crew Midweight Hiking sock is great, you might check out our Work sock line up for your husband! They're made with merino wool for thermoregulation, moisture wicking, and odor resistance. They also feature mesh windows on the top of the foot to help vent sweat! You can check those out here -- https://darntough.com/collections/mens-work-socks -- and look at the Fred Tuttle for a good alternative for the Coolmax Hiker Micro Crew. : )
Hello, Do you offer totally all white socks (NO RAINBOWS) for men XL
Hi Rob, while we don't offer many all-white socks at the micro crew/crew height - you might check out the Men's Element Crew Sock -- https://darntough.com/collections/mens-athletic-socks/products/mens-merino-wool-element-crew-lightweight-athletic-socks -- they feature minimal striping on the white colorway!
