Just Right

"These are the perfect socks for me; the other Darn Toughs are either too thin, too cool temperature wise, or I just don’t like the design. These feel thick, tight, warm, and super comfy. I was wearing Dickies before and these socks feel like an upgrade from them, unlike the other over-calf snowboarding type socks that just don’t feel as good. Love them."

Great for tick prevention

"I love Darn Tough so wanted to try their hunting socks. They a bit longer than my usual hunting socks, so I was skeptical, but they are excellent for tick prevention."

Husband’s Only Socks He Wears!!

"My husband is very picky about everything! He either likes something or he doesn’t. Well…. he LOVES these socks and these are the only type of socks that he wears. He has mentioned that the socks are extremely comfortable and I love the guarantee and warranty. Please, the fact that he is very pleased."

Great socks, Super comfortable!!! May become my new Favorite!!!

"I love these socks; they may even surpass my beloved T4050’s as my favorites if they hold up well over time. They are super soft. And comfortable!!! The main reason I rated them a 4 rather than a 5 is that at lease 1 sock of the 4 pairs is either shorter than the others or the elastic is weak. This sock(s) doesn’t ‘’t stay up over my calf, whereas all the other socks do."

The cushion compression and durability

"The cushion compression and durability is everything as advertised on these. I’ve bought these socks many times before and will continue buying socks from this company for many years to come!"

These socks are great! The

"These socks are great! The length going up over the calf to the knee is great in the cold weather. The heavyweight keeps your feet, legs, and body warm. Great socks by a great local company."

Narrow for size XXL

"Bought the XXL (sizes 15–17) as a size 16 — standard width, nothing unusual. The quality and durability are genuinely excellent, but the foot is too narrow. Combine that with relatively low elasticity and the result is a sock that squeezes more than it should, which actually hurts both warmth and comfort. I’ve had the same experience with another Darn Tough XXL lightweight style sock, so this seems to be a brand-wide sizing issue. Oddly, I’ve had socks from other brands rated only up to size 14 fit me with more room and stretch. My suspicion is that their XXL is essentially a standard size that’s just been made longer — not truly wider. If you’re a true size 15–17 and expect the fit to match the label, be aware. Quality is A++; sizing needs work."

Great winter socks

"Fantastic thick, winter socks with great compression, helpful for POTS. These replaced a 8-year-old version of the same, so these are insanely durable."

Just what I expected them

holes in every pair

"I've bought a dozen or more of Darn Tough brand socks in different weights and heights. They're undoubtedly better than any cotton/cotton blend sock on the market. They fit great. They allow my feet to breathe even on the hottest days. I'm in construction, so my days can last as long as 18 hrs from the time I lace up my boots until I finally take them off. However, every single pair of socks I've bought (especially the over-the-calf ones) have worn away to the main weave around the heels and particular areas of my foot. They also have holes in the calf area, especially in the top of the sock just from trying to pull them up. I've tried to be careful but it doesn't help, they tear anyway. There's no point in paying for $35 for a pair of socks that won't last 6 months. I'll send them back for the warranty, but will most likely not buy any in the future."

Q&A

What’s the “new tech” in the OTC heavyweight hunting sock? Also in the pictures there are 2 different color green socks displayed (one with orange, the other has no orange). Which picture is accurate?
The new tech in our Over the Calf hunting socks comes in the nylon reinforcements! We've added more nylon in common wear areas to make the socks tougher than ever. The most up-to-date picture will be the one with the orange mountain top and orange vertical lines on the top of the foot!
I’m interested in the heavyweight over the calf hunting sock. Do you recommend wearing a liner with these or just the sock by itself?
No liners needed. Long ago people used sock liners to compensate for socks that fit poorly, but you won’t find that problem with Darn Tough socks.
I wear 9 1/2 - 10 which sock would fit the best?
Some customers who fall on the upper end of a size run do choose to size up due to the snug, performance fit of our socks.
Heavy tactical over calf v heavy hunter over calf?
The Heavyweight Hunter Over-the-Calf style has cooling vents on the top of the foot for a a little extra breathability, the T4050 (Heavyweight Tactical Over-the-Calf) does not.
A size 9 will fit a size 9 shoe, or should I wear a size 9 inside a size 10 shoe? What do your you and your customers recommend?
Hi Adrian! Our socks are pre-shrunk and true to size. At a Men's size 9, we would recommend going with our Men's size Medium. Check out our sizing chart right here: https://darntough.com/pages/size-chart.
