my mountain climbing socks

"I am an early 20s adult male, 5'8", and weighing 165. went on a 6 mile hike up a mountain with the peak temperature reaching 60 degrees Fahrenheit. I chose a medium sock and it fit like a glove without being constricting and it kept my feet warm but not sweaty. the stitching is durable and it form fits to the foot well. I experienced no chaffing and would wear these socks again, and again, and again. I use darn tough socks for hiking, hunting, and everyday work. these socks are a great addition."

"I gave this sock an almost perfect score only because it's a very comfortable sock. it's great for the winter and to be honest I've worn them almost everyday since even in the summer. the wool doesn't smell after you use it even if it's 100 degrees out. the only down sides are in you wear them with a stiffer boot then can cause rub. and my one pair ripped right at the top where I was pulling them up from, but great news is they have a lifetime guarantee 💯 👌🏼. so I'll be getting new socks soon! I bought my fiance a few pairs because she lives in Japan and walks a lot and she burns through socks. she has hers for almost a year and a half and they are just as comfortable and have as much cushion as when I bought them for her. they breath easy and dry quickly. highest recommendations."

Almost lives up to the impossible standard!

"Bought in Desember so this is a Four-month-review. The first month or so I wore these exclusively as a daily pair – from morning to late evenings. I walk at least one hour a day, to and from work. For Christmas vacation I went to the cold in Iceland and these socks never went off (except for maybe the evening of 24th) and it was never too cold or hot. It wasn't until mid January I felt the need for a sock-wash – that´s a full month! They did hard from the sweat I guess but the odor never came. It wasn't until month two or so a smell started to come, and to quote my wife: "it´s lingering but not a problem. " At month three to four I still use them, but sparingly; two days and a break/wash. Whenever I go back to my 100% cotton socks I think about buying more DarnTough. Of course my mistake was not buying two pairs to switch between and owning a lightweight version. A small rip came after one month because I pulled the sock too hard. I suspect I´m being unfair for not giving 5 stars. I recommend highly."

"I started wearing Darn Tough socks exclusively when working fire shifts because then my feet don't stink when I'm stuck in the same socks for 24 hour shifts. What’s the “new tech” in the OTC heavyweight hunting sock? Also in the pictures there are 2 different color green socks displayed (one with orange, the other has no orange). Which picture is accurate?
The new tech in our Over the Calf hunting socks comes in the nylon reinforcements! We've added more nylon in common wear areas to make the socks tougher than ever. The most up-to-date picture will be the one with the orange mountain top and orange vertical lines on the top of the foot!
I’m interested in the heavyweight over the calf hunting sock. Do you recommend wearing a liner with these or just the sock by itself?
No liners needed. Long ago people used sock liners to compensate for socks that fit poorly, but you won’t find that problem with Darn Tough socks.
I wear 9 1/2 - 10 which sock would fit the best?
Some customers who fall on the upper end of a size run do choose to size up due to the snug, performance fit of our socks.
Heavy tactical over calf v heavy hunter over calf?
The Heavyweight Hunter Over-the-Calf style has cooling vents on the top of the foot for a a little extra breathability, the T4050 (Heavyweight Tactical Over-the-Calf) does not.
A size 9 will fit a size 9 shoe, or should I wear a size 9 inside a size 10 shoe? What do your you and your customers recommend?
